Protect : Protect the injured area from any further injury
Rest : The injured area must be rested wherever possible
Ice : Apply ice for 15 minutes, once every hour (put a towel between the ice and your skin)
Compression : Apply a compression wrap during the day (check your circulation at regular intervals)
Elevation : Raise the injured area, above the level of your heart, even at night
Support : The injured area must be supported appropriately
